Cowboy Baked Beans from my Mommy

My mom got this from a craft fair many years ago. I originally called for lima beans. Not a fan of lima beans. So I made some changes.

  • small Garlic – about a glove
  • 1 cup Ketchup

  • 3/4 cup packed Brown Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Mustard optional – I do not use
  • 2 teaspoons Vinegar
  • 1/2 cup White Sugar
  • 1 can 28 ounces Bush’s Baked Beans
  • 1 can 16 ounces Bush’s Great Northern Beans
  • 1 can 16 ounces Bush’s Light Red Kidney Beans – drained

  • Fry bacon till almost done – about 15 minutes.
  • Add ground beef and garlic, and fry until beef is browned.
  • Add onion and and cook until tender.
  • Add ketchup, salt, brown sugar, dry mustard (optional), vinegar, and sugar and mix well.
  • Add beans. Mixing carefully not to crush beans.
