Creamed Chicken for Biscuits

This creamed chicken recipe takes cooked chicken breast meat and simmers it with cream, chicken broth, almonds, and peas in a lightly seasoned mixture — perfect for pouring over hot biscuits.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups heavy cream (whipping cream)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 – 4 cups chicken whipping cream
  • 2 cups peas Optional – Can use frozen (thaw and drain) or canned
  • 12 ounces pearl onions Optional – Frozen works well
  • 8 ounces mushrooms Optional – Canned

Instructions
 

  • Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Stir in flour, then add broth, cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix together and cook until thickened.
  • Stir in chicken, peas, and almonds. Heat through and serve.
